Who in your life helps to teach you new things, shares their own experiences, and inspires you?
As Mother’s Day approaches, I can’t help but reflect on being a mommy!
Looking back at the last 4 plus years of my life as a mom, I can’t believe how fast they have flown by. It used to annoy me when people would see me walking down the street with my newborn and they would say, “Enjoy it because the time flies by.” I would think, “Well, I hope so because I am exhausted and can’t wait for the time to come when this kid actually sleeps more than three hours!” BUT, now I totally get it.
I truly can’t believe how fast it goes. I can cry thinking that my daughter is going to attend her last year of preschool in September. My son is 2 1/2 yrs old and it feels like yesterday the doctor said, “It’s a boy!”
Don’t get me wrong, there are definitely days I would love to press fast forward, like when my son has a tantrum that just won’t stop or figuring out how to handle a friendship situation with my 4 year old daughter, which makes me fear for when she’s a teenager. And trying to get my kids out of the house each morning can be more exhausting than running a marathon (I assume, I have never actually ran one).
However, there is nothing sweeter than the sound of my children laughing, singing, or telling me they love me. Those are the things I want to savor for ever.
Since my husband and I are in the throes of starting a website that focuses so much “teaching, sharing, and inspiring” I thought I would reflect on those who “teach, share, and inspire” me!
Everyday my amazing children teach me to be a bit more patient! It’s amazing how much a four and two-year old can teach us without even knowing. They remind me of what is truly important in life, that it’s ok to be silly and that they’ll love me even if the house isn’t clean. They teach me to let the kid in me come out more! They also keep me on my toes, and always let me know that whatever I do or say they’re watching and repeating, whether I like it or not!
I thank all the incredible moms in my life who share with me on a daily basis. Whether it’s their stories, laughs, tears, or friendship, they are honest and not afraid to admit that as much as we love and adore our children it can be overwhelming and exhausting.
I am truly fortunate to know so many inspirational moms who inspire me to be a better mom, friend, and wife. I am in awe of those who juggle so much and even under a great deal of stress always seem to have a smile on their face. My own mother is one of the most incredible women and mothers I know – the sacrifices she made for me in my life I will never forget, and I only hope I inspire my children half as much as she has inspired me.
Moms, I hope this Mother’s Day you can take time to reflect on those who “teach, share, and inspire” you on a daily basis. I hope you get a break from the laundry, dishwashing, and vacuuming too 🙂
Happy Mother’s Day!
