The mission of “Thru My Eyes” is to provide free in-home, clinically guided videos for individuals with a life-threatening medical illness, who want to leave legacies for their children or other loved ones, regardless of their financial means.

Thru My Eyes” has been set up in honor of our beloved friend Dede Frontera who passed away in 2010, from a terminal illness all too young. When faced with the news that her third bout of breast cancer metastasized throughout her body, Dede, at age 40, felt that she had so much left to say to her daughter Nicole, then 8. She wanted to offer motherly advice, share memories, and express vital perspectives to her daughter at appropriate times in her daughter’s life as she matures all of which she wanted to deliver in the private comfort of her home. She was also faced with questions about what was developmentally appropriate to share and how best to approach certain topics to an 8 year-old and realized that clinical/professional guidance was necessary. After her search to see if any organization existed to help her came up with no results, the mission of “Thru my Eyes” became clear. Now, a parent’s messages can be delivered periodically to their loved ones as they grow and mature.

“The United States Fund for UNICEF was founded in 1947 to support the work of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) by raising funds for its programs and increasing awareness of the challenges facing the world’s children. The oldest of 37 national committees for UNICEF worldwide, we are part of a global effort to save, protect and improve children’s lives. Every moment of every day, UNICEF is on the ground providing lifesaving help for children in need. We provide families with clean water and sanitation, we vaccinate against childhood illness, and we help protect children against malaria. We provide nourishment to fight malnutrition, and we care for children affected by AIDS. We protect children from abuse, and we give them an education. We are here to make sure that all children lead a healthy, humane, and dignified life.”

The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), founded in 1895 saves wildlife and wild places worldwide. We do so through science, global conservation, education and the management of the world’s largest system of urban wildlife parks, led by the flagship Bronx Zoo. Together these activities change attitudes towards nature and help people imagine wildlife and humans living in harmony. We currently manage about 500 conservation projects in more than 60 countries; and educate millions of visitors at our five living institutions in New York City on important issues affecting our planet. Our parks include: the Bronx Zoo, New York Aquarium, Central Park Zoo, Prospect Park Zoo and Queens Zoo. The WCS parks in New York City welcome 4 million visitors each year, including helping the city to educate millions of schoolchildren in science and conservation issues.
